i think the last 4 or 5 times the buckeyes have played the wildcats on the road in Evanston, they have won by less then 5.....

you people do realize northwestern beat MSU by six this year right? And they took Michigan to OT not once but twice. And that 5 of their losses were by a total of 10 points? This isn't a bad team we just beat. They are top 50 in the rpi and very tough at home. Did we play great down the stretch? Nope, but we did hang on for a big win. You all need some perspective

  • I think Sully needs to quit trying to draw the foul and take it to the hoop strong. I know he scored the winning bucket and had over 20 points but, I can not handle a strong kid throwing up the ball in the air looking like a soft rock star. Craft had a few good shots in the first half. He turns the ball over wayyyyy to much, imo. Smith, great D no O outside of one game this year. Buford, is the most puzzling of all. Thomas, selfish and no D. I do not think we are playing like a championship team. I think we have the talent but, it is not clicking. I hope come tourney time we start to click. Our bench is weak because, we don't play them. All I can say is GO BUCKS!!!!!

  • For goodness sakes, do people even really, truly watch the games? Do you complain just because you expect this team to win every game by double digits? Look, I get just as frustrated as anyone else. This is one of the THE most frustrating teams ever to watch under Matta. But consider the makeup of the roster.

Lenzelle Smith had 12 or 13 points last night and was one of the most active guys on the floor for OSU. No offense???

Why in the world do people believe playing Scott and Thompson more (along with Sibert, Ravenel, etc.) will lead to them producing more?
Do they produce anything now when they are on the court?
Can Scott or Thompson make a jumper right now?
Do you think just because they get more game minutes, their shooting percentage will improve dramatically?
Do you think that maybe, just maybe, Matta sees them shoot the ball in practice, and sees the same exact results that we see when they are on the floor?

Ohio State is one win away from sharing a third straight Big Ten title. Everyone knows they have flaws. 12 of the 13 players are underclassmen or playing their first year at Ohio State. Again, consider the roster... and yet look at the record and overall body of work this team has put together.

    Season's not over yet...

This team has a lack of communication, I have never seen a team get beat so much on defense because they dont know how to switch on screens. This team should play zone and nothing else point blank period....... Also l think imho they would get better results if they move Thomas to the wing and replace Smith with Williams and move sullinger to the 4 spot. This team might only win the 1st rd in the tourney and then get sent home packing.

I agree with you about the line up with Williams. Sullinger needs to play the 4 for at least some of the game. He has really been acting like a big spoiled brat lately too. I am sick of his attitude. It is one thing to show emotion, it is another to sit out there throwing temper tantrums every single game. He actually seemed more mature last year. Maybe it was just the strong leadership of Lighty, I don't know.

  • Shannon Scott was just brutal last night. Can't shoot even when he is wide open, every other pass he made was a turnover, other lapses. And to think we could have had Trey Burke instead of Scott. Buford was off last night, when he is having a game like that I don't understand why they don't give Ross some PT. It should not have been as close as it was but it was still a good road win. Best I have seen Craft shoot all year, hope it is the start of a trend. The Bucks passed the ball more before shooting, that was a good sign too.

If 12 or 13 points is big offense to you then, kuddos! Smith, doesn't score 12-13 points a night on the average either. So, either way you look at it...really???? I am a fan I am just saying that these kids are UNDER achieving BIG TIME!!!

I'm not talking big offense. Honestly, OSU doesn't really need somebody else who is always looking for their own shot. They need someone who will do the dirty work, score when the opportunity presents itself, and defend. Smith fills that role to a 'T' as well as being someone who CAN score when the team needs it. Not only that, the guy is a tremendous passer and showed it off again last night.

7-8 points from Lenzelle is fine with me any day of the week (and twice on Saturday/Sunday - Lord knows OSU needs it) to go along with his defense and the nitty gritty he provides.

I'll take issue a bit with the underachieving part, as well. They are 24-6, have 8 wins over top 50 RPI teams, and have a chance to win a share of a Big Ten championship. If that is under-achieving, I'd like to know what they should have done... We have to STOP comparing this team to last year's team. Inconsistency is part of youthfulness. 11 underclassmen is hard to overcome, no matter how talented they are.

  • People get way too up and down about regular season basketball games. From here on out, most the wins that this team gets isn't going to be by 15+ pts. It was Northwestern's senior night, playing for a chance to send John Shurna out on a positive note and play themselves into the NCAA tournament. We came out with the win. Sure, we only won by three pts and outrebounded them by 26, but saying we won't make a run in the NCAA tournament is ridiculous. The field this year is below average, and we wouldn't meet a Syracuse or Kentucky until the Elite Eight / Final Four. After watching the Indiana/MSU game the other night, we're going to have a street fight on our hands to win a share of the Big Ten title. Add in that most of the tournament teams we meet will not have had the chance to play OSU 2 games annually (like they do in conference), and I think we're going to be OK. Definitely some mistakes to clean up before Sunday's game, but this isn't a time to jump ship.

  • This time of the year it should be different. They should not be as inconsistent as they have been. I would say that these kids have played enough that they should no longer be considered inexperienced. I would say at the beginning of the year this could be legit. This time of the year it is an excuse. I will say we are playing for a share of the Big Ten title and that is okay but, we should have ran away with it.

Up 7 with 4 minutes to go.

Craft throws the ball out of bounds. Smith travels. Sullinger gets tied up for a jump ball and then almost gets a T. Thomas executes a perfect handoff to their 5'8" guard.

We won, but a better team would have taken us out.

simply put......very accruate statement.......GOOD TEAMS DO NOT DO THIS.

THey close people out like MSU does.......

Sully has been acting like a spoiled little brat.........we have all been talking about this for several weeks about how this team needs to get it together...they need a foot in their ass etc etc....CLEARLY whatever message Thad is trying to send they are NOT getting by he way they are playing....

ALl in all it was a "bad win" last night......

I hate to say it but Sparty is going to ROLL US on Sunday........I hope i am wrong but this team has not proven anything to me the past several weeks except they have no confidence

My thought is Thomas is becoming one the the biggest detriments to this team of late. Aside from the fact that he is the absoulte worst defender on this team, his self absorbed attitude is becoming apparent. Did anyone happen to catch the screen shot after a fowl when Lenzelle had to yell at Thomas and basically tell him to get his ass in the huddle.I can't count the times I watched last night that after Thomas got torched on D the first thing he did was immediately begin cherry picking down court and stick his had up for the ball in hopes of an easy score. Check out his body language when he is not getting touches and others are having scoring success. It is obvious he is playing for himself only right now in an attemt to line his wallet soon. Great scorer, but as we have seen, doesn't always equate to wins.

I saw that as well. After fouls/ going to the line, you can see Craft yelling at the team to huddle up. DT half ass'd his way over there and Smith gave him a dirty look.

It just seems like in the 1st half of the season we were beating teams by 15-20 pts and it was fun for these players. Now the tide has turned and we are either losing or playing real close to these teams. Maybe the feel pressure and don't know how to coop with it.

craft is about the only guy on this team with balls

  • exactly! Conf crown should already be in the bag but most alarming is the team's overall lack of development and improvement as the season went along. All is forgotten though with a nice tourney run to NOLA.
