Who do we need to step up the most

  • we know what we are going to get from craft, L smith and D thomas. My question is who needs to step up the most for us to win the B1G next yr? I think Amir Williams needs to merit that lofty pre college ranking. If he can step in and put up 12-14 a game with like 9 rebounds, who knows?

  • If I were Sam Thompson and Shannon Scott, I would be putting up 500+ 3's a day, and working on my handle. Ross needs to get in the weight room.

  • Amir Williams, but on defense more than points and rebounds. He will get those, and will block shots.

Agreed. Thompson and Williams in as starters and this could be one of the best defensive teams we have ever seen at OSU, but we really need Williams to step up since we are so thin with big men. Ravenel is a bit undersized for the 5 and he also may be needed some at the 4, leaving only McDonald who looks to be a bit of a project. Williams needs to step up on D without fouling a lot, as he seemed a little foul prone this past year (as many shot-blocking freshman are, Anthony Davis notwithstanding).

  • Ross and Williams are the X factors next year IMO. If they have big years we will be in good shape. You can also make the arguement for Scott and Thompson. Offensively they gave us nothing so hopefully this offseason they will improve. Go Bucks!!

It wouldn't surprise me if McDonald turns out to be very serviceable next season. His shot looks good, has good mechanics. I'm not worried about our big men, tho' foul trouble is always a risk no matter who we have. I really want to see the non-starting guards step up. They will make or break us.

  • I think Ross will be a key member of the team next year. From what I hear he looks pretty big and he has potential to be the 2nd leading scorer on the team if he is given the PT

Everyone needs to step up offensively and defensively on this current roster. It is just not one exclusive player. As I stated in my previous posts, this team will be good defensively and will be one of the most athletically talented teams in Ohio State basketball history. It depends on how much this kids are putting on the offensive side of the ball. LaQuinton Ross needs to show me he can play defense. I know this kid can play on the offensive side of the ball. Big concerns for this team are overall offense and their perimeter shooting. Smith, Della Valle, Craft and all these guys need to shoot the three proficiently and when I mean proficiently it is over 40% from the field. Rebounding is a huge key for this team as well need to have the guards rebound the ball as well as the post players. The big men need to run the floor. I am talking Bill Walton throwing the ball down the court and hauling ass. I know Sullinger was injured for most of last season but these big fellas need to run and rebound. This current OSU team will remind us of those FSU teams from a few years ago where they played great defense but their offense was lacking a little bit. This is an extremely talented young Buckeye team but they might struggle to score offensively in games. I hope these kids are committed to developing their games and Matta's staff told these kids exactly what to do during the offseason. These kids potential is off the charts, it all depends on them. I think this team has a chance to win the Big Ten even though everyone aka ESPIN thinks Indiana is some big unstoppable juggernaut this next season. Amir Williams is more of a Kenny Johnson type of player. I would love to see those numbers but he is a defensive weapon. Here come the blocks!
