  • If debt is a problem now, it should have been so during Bush while he was cutting revenues and running record debts. I find it suspect that debt is only now an issue. Cowboys spend and spend.

    I would much rather live under a president racking up debt on "real" items rather than giving handouts to people who should not even be in this country!

    And why was it downgraded? Because the Republican controlled House didn't increase the debt ceiling. Something that was done NINE times under Bush.

    I dont' believe in handouts. Repubs give handouts to Oil companies, bankers, pharmaceutical companies, etc. They prefer corporate welfare to traditional welfare--it's still welfare nonetheless.

And by the way, correct me if I'm wrong I'm not a magical wizard like you but isn't 41% of 10-11 trillion much more than say 189% of 500 billion?

    So you're implying raising the debt ceiling would have made the country more solvent? This is like saying increasing someone's credit card limit, who is already insolvent, makes them a better credit risk. Both sides of the aisle are guilty, but no one wants to make the tough choices when it's an election year and the electorate is restless. Welcome to the United States of Greece....

    You're funny but in the way people are laughing "at you" and not "with you"... This president has added more to our debt than any in history and at an unprecedented pace. If a public corporation borrowed the relative amounts of money this guy has and the economy was still in the shape it presently is in, the CEO and the entire leadership team would be out on the street and the company's stock would be at "junk" status. Talk about "Fantasyland"... That is the one place the liberals inarguably have complete and total dominion over.

    Go look at how much GDP rose under each President, and then compare debt growth to economic growth for an accurate picture.

    Percentages mean little. Real dollars do. You can't spend percentages. Obama's budgets are digging the debt in dollars deeper than any other president. Still he refuses to take on entitlement spending. He had a chance to try to fix things and turned his back on the recommendations of his own appointees Bowles-Simpson.
