  • Just think where it would be if we had a Texan in office? (SARCASM) That was the excuse when Bush was POTUS, he was inflating the price for his own good! Now all he has to do is send Obama a thank you card. Oh wait, nevermind, its still his fault.

It was around $1.89 when our current POTUS was elected, with his inability to address the Iran threats and not approve the pipeline from Canada the price of gas is heading right where his Energy Secretary wants it, $5/gallon! That way it justifies him sending more money to his bankrupt friends for green energy that we will NEVER see!

The real issue IMHO is the fact that our country has not built a refinery since the 70's,there is plenty of oil, just no refinery capacity!

thats what is so amazing about the whole thing, you have a Energy SECRETAY--MR. CHU who has constantly made statements, that he WANTS high GAS PRICES but u have OBAMA coming out and saying "of course I don't want high prices, when I'm trying to get re=elected" so does the OBAMA adminstration want high or low prices which is it.........comments from the Democrat peanut gallery would be appreciative on this subject......

  • Boys, there is no gas shortage. We are paying the price of living in a free market economy. Speculators have the power to drive up oil prices because there MIGHT be a problem in Iran soon. Amazing.O btw, correct me if I am wrong, but the Keystone pipeline was to be built to pump oil from Canada through the US overseas. We weren't to see a drop of it.OK I was wrong on the last part, I checked, but the whole project is politics as usual. Read up on it to see how thw republicans tried to force O's hand on this prematurely by linking his approval to their approving the unemplyment benefits package in January.

  • And yet we have people talking about our economy recovering? I am sure that is just right around the corner with these gas prices.

You do understand that saying high gas prices would be good for forcing Americans to change their habits is different than saying you want high gas prices, right? I find it interesting that a political conservative wants the President to do something about gas prices and not just let the free market handle it. I suppose the previous government intervention could be used to explain why you want further intervention but that isn't very Republican of you. Tsk, tsk.

Bush signed off on more drilling off our shores when it was $147 a barrel in July of 2008, by the time Obama took over it was down to $33 a barrel.......the threat of bringing more oil into the market does have a helpful way of lowering oil prices......

Really--yours is an incredibly ignorant remark. All conservatives want is for the President to allow the free market to work--and not have him artificially depress supply by curtailing U.S. production on public lands. What is truly "interesting" is how leftists stubbornly hold onto their ideology regardless of demonstrable facts. Nice try, but your bozo President has been intervening in the economy, penalizing the use of capital, stifling job growth and fossil fuel production ever since he came into office. We will see if Americans are gullible enough this time around to buy into his false promise of government "goodies' for the middle class and the downtrodden.

I've never heard of Minster, but their most illustrious citizen minsterbuckeye has a history of starting 10 threads a day, none of them are a complete sentence and end with "way to go Obama......" I guess he thinks that putting a bunch of periods at the end forgives that fact that he has not once in all his posts ever written a complete sentence. Not once. Ever. Nor can he spell. Nor can he debate. He only changes subjects or attacks a poster when he is proven wrong. He represents the sludge at the bottom of the buck nuts barrel. Uneducated, idiotic sludge.

Are you on meth? Ive never seen so many short phrases trying to be passed off as a complete sentence. I need to ask a 4th grader to translate what you write. Is everyone in Minster as uneducated as you? Or are you the creepy old sicko that stares at the underage girls from the park bench talking to yourself about Obama all day?

Just one more reason to get off of fossil fuels. I'm tired of paying anything over $2.50/gal so that oil companies can fill their pockets and Achmed can shot at me when I deploy to the Middle East. I say take oil company subsidy money and put it to work in R&D for new fuel methods. What has an oil company ever done for you besides help cause the recession with $4.00/gal gas in 2008! Remember that nice $600 refund advance you got that year? Where did that go again? Oh yeah, to help pay for the gas price increase and now they are doing it again during another presidential election year.

    http://flowingdata.com/2008/08/08/watch-the-rise-of-gasoline-retails-prices-1993-2008/

So you would tax the oil companies (who would then simply raise their prices, causing gasoline prices to go even higher) as some kind of solution? Alternate energies cannot power the economy at this point, regardless of the amount of subsidies. Perhaps you would prefer even higher unemployment rates while we wait for so-called green technologies to develop, but I would not. I have more empathy for the average person trying to make ends meet to wait for such a "solution." BTW, you have heard of Solyndra, right? How did that subsidy work?

Why not increase production by permitting more drilling on public lands? I'm tired of having a President who will not authorize increased production, thus forcing me to pay well over $2.50 per gallon at the pump. If you don't understand the relationship between gasoline prices and Obama's refusal to authorize drilling (U.S production on public lands is down 40% since he took office), then you need a primer in economics.

I'm also tired of having a President who poses as a semi-intellectual, but not only lacks any knowledge of basic economics, but of elementary items such as the number of states in the U.S. (he referred to the 57 states) and the languages of Europe (referring to the "Austrian language"). Dan Quayle was pilloried by our "mainstream," leftist press for misspelling the word "potatoes" (failing to insert the "e"), but Obama gets a pass for much worse gaffes (which display a shocking lack of knowledge of basic facts)?

Let's elect someone who can help right our fiscal ship, take common sense action to lower energy prices by authorizing increased production (which will also create jobs), and get our economy back on track. Let me give you a hint: that person ain't Obama.

No, not everyone who didn't serve is a false patriot, but you are. You talk shit on message boards and insult veterans who did serve. That makes you a phony and false patriot.

I'm trying to figure out if you've had a head injury or just really dumb. What part of "i got out in 1995," do you not understand?

You can't even spell opinion right and Bucknuts has auto-correct!!!

Unfortunately, because of past Congress and Presidents, oil and gas companies do not exactly compete in a free market.

Quit calling his duty into question. He served. If you disagree with him, then keep it at that. But don't call into question whether or not he is a veteran.
