Republican senators used the filibuster during Obama's first two years more than any other Senate in history. That's why nothing got done. Some Republicans only broke ranks to vote for a health bill that was extremely watered down and something they could campaign against. That old song-and-dance won't work. If Republicans regain the Senate they will immediately push for a simple majority, or at least require someone to actually speak during a filibuster. It would serve them right if Senate Democrats used filibuster after filibuster. However, I doubt many Democrats would hold out against their constituents' best interests as Republicans did (and are still doing). In truth, I would not want the Democrats to be petty and vindictive enough to bring Washington to its knees as has been done during the past three years. I'm sure most Democrats would agree.
How ironic that things would get done under a Republican majority. Why? Because Democrats would actually vote for things that help the country. Why? Because they're not Republicans.

Romney himself started this whole flap about his wife when he brought her into the campaign by saying "When I want to know what is important to women (assuming middle class women), I ask my wife." Really? She has personal knowledge and understanding of the problems facing working-class mothers, single mothers, factory workers, poor mothers, college women trying to afford tuition, etc. etc.? By involving his wife she came under scrutiny that may have been a little unfair, but he invited it. If he truly wants to know how women feel he should ask some. After all, he should know how his wife feels by now. Unless he doesn't. On several occasions she has said "maybe I should do the talking." Michelle Obama has been a target for vicious attacks from the right since Barack became a national figure - and Hiliary Clinton long before that.

I know Obama and much of the Democratic Congress takes money also. They would be stupid not to since they probably don't feel like ceding an even greater advantage to the right. Let's all pledge to forego big money from any source and see who would be willing. We all know what party that would be. Where did I mention that I got a raw deal? I was pretty much saying I would have been willing to give up that "refund" and the subsequent tax breaks for a balanced and thriving economy and a solvent SS and Medicare. I am happy with my life. I have an apartment building that nets $2,800 a month from college students, a year-round condo two blocks from a casino in Henderson, NV, a 100% retirement income, 70 years old and look 50, running a 5k tomorrow morning, preparing for the Columbus Marathon this fall, may open a bar in my 1830 building, writing 5 screenplays and a book, never had a broken bone, in perfect health, and never have a down day. I think I could have qualified for any management position in your little world. However, that seems awfully dull to me.
The mouthpieces exist on the right, where it is devoid of independent thought and everyone is just waiting for the next talking point of the week.

Dave1954, I just can't leave you alone..... What is this about being patriotic and supporting the other party when they are in power? Is this a new thing for you guys? Patriotism from the left? Come on. Now you are pissing me off.
It was a man like you who tried to punch my uncle in 1971 on leave seeing his son for the first time. You are disgusting.

And here I thought that even though we disagreed, you were smart enough to cut through a lot of the bullshit. First, the GOP does not want to take women's choice away from any woman. The GOP does however want to outlaw murder/genocide, better known as abortion. The GOP also does not want to prevent the poor from recieving medical services. The GOP will continue to fund Medicade, no one has even mentioned eliminating it. However, the GOP does rightfully want to end all public funding for Planned Parenthood. The GOP also does not want to ban contraception. However, the GOP would respect the 1st Amendment and religious freedom and not try to force the Catholic Church to provide it.
I am shocked that you fell for some of the Liberal talking points.
Though often asked, God does not take sides in politics or college football.

Menstrual,
Retired teacher of 36 years. And 4 years in the Air Force (1960-64). 41 year coach of football, basketball, track, cross country, and volleyball. I consider myself a pretty good judge of character. For instance, GW Bush was that guy who sat in the back of the room in every one of my Biology classes snickering around with his buddies, never completing an assignment, and wanting extra credit at the end of the grading period to pull up his grade. We all remember that guy. I suspect you have many of those same traits. Sorry to use the word "traits," since that may be construed as an evolutionary term. Wouldn't want to offend your Creationist sensibilities.
You paid nothing for my stressful life, unless you happen to really be one of those idiots in the back of my classroom. BTW, I have never had a "very" stressful day in my entire life. I guarantee you could not say the same. You're too tightly wound.

Menstrual,
My apartments have a waiting list. All 5 have brick walls throughout, a bar with 4 stools, a built-in booth, bead-board wainscoting throughout with a 6 inch ledge at the top, hardwood floors, multiple fireplaces, and 10 foot ceilings. I pay utilities. Isn't that enough?
Your misguided stereotype of a Democrat is so 80's. You need to get a new schtick.

Willard Romney's wife must be Super Mom. After all, she raised 5 boys all by herself while her husband was out buying up companies, firing their workers and then selling the company off for profit. Meanwhile Little Ann was home with 5 monstrous boys. I wonder if she did her own grocery shopping? How about worrying about the gas bill in winter? How about doctor's bills? Do you think she had to worry about everyday things most mericans worry about? I don't think so. I've heard the Mitten dotes on her, will do anything for her, and forbids the kids to talk back to her. if that is so, why no maids, or nannies to help his wife? Doesn't really make sence. Now before your moron Cons start blaming me for being anti-women you best get out there and read the Romney story. Not all roses and alot of holes in it. And lease don't call me a women hater, I believe a women should have a choice, should have equal pay and be treated as equals in everything they do. I am sure Cons out there believe in the same thing, too.

I get the feeling you have never seen the clip of Bush saying that he does not know where Bin Laden is, and that frankly he doesn't think much about Bin Laden. It is understandable, since FOX "News" has probably never shown it. If you have seen it, please respond. One thing I'm sure of, Bin Laden was not in Iraq. And neither was Al Quida until Bush invaded and occupied it.
BTW, you keep responding to "Bin Laden is dead and the auto industry is alive," but you never comment about "The sky is whatever color Hannity says it is." Do you not know what we are referring to when we are saying that?
