Bush & Obama have something in common

Bush tax cuts - Effectively limited the size of government and entitlements through limited revenues
Obama SS tax cut - Effectively accelerated the timeline for a "new deal" on SS/OASDI program/entitlement
Both will be very "unpopular" tax increases to get reinstated to normal rates. I believe the SS tax cut will be held out for an extension of the bush tax cuts for all. It will be interesting to see how this plays out through the summer.

Lesson to be learned from both. Tax cuts once enacted are difficult to raise when needed.

Both written in law to expire so any "new" president would have to pass it again or not be reelected!
