    Further to my point that it was the Republican establishment that was behind the interview with Newt's ex-wife, this happened this morning:

    "In what appears to be a last ditch attempt to halt Newt Gingrich's late momentum in South Carolina, a fake CNN Breaking News alert was emailed to state Republican activists early Thursday morning claiming that the former House Speaker pressured his ex-wife to have an abortion.

    CNN did not send out the email alert.

    It's not clear how many people received the fake email, though at least two members of the South Carolina GOP Executive Committee, who did not want to be named, were among those who found the missive in their inboxes this morning".

    If it looks like Karl Rove, if it smells like Karl Rove, if it quacks like Karl Rove, then maybe.....

    ABC News did the piece, not anyone in the GOP. As far as the fake email, I'll wait to see who it is traced to.

Especially since he didn't lie about his affair (according to his ex-wife) and he has been divorced from her for almost 20 years. I still don't see the newsworthiness of bringing up something from 2 decades ago that he admits he was wrong in. It's not like he hid it.

    Newt made a big deal out of Clinton getting a couple of BJs and used much harsher language then has been used against him. He was on TV every other day where he showed the same attack skills as he did against the press. AND DURING THE WHOLE TIME THAT HE WAS CASTIGATING CLINTON HE WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH A YOUNG STAFF MEMBER WHO WOULD BE HIS THIRD WIFE.

    He is a sanctimonious hypocrite. I hope he wins the nomination because I firmly believe that he is one of the few repubs that Obama can beat.

    My point is simply this: Who has an incentive to destroy Newt Gingrich's candidacy? The most obvious person is Mitt Romney. I believe the person with the least incentive to do so is Barrack Obama. His incentive would be to boost Gingrich's campaign, to keep Newt's vitriol toward Romney flowing. And who is one of Romney's backers? Karl Rove. And who has a history of spreading lies and misinformation before the South Carolina primary? Karl Rove. Does John McCain being the father of a black child sound familiar? W even fessed up to it later, saying it wasn't personal, it was only politics.

    I agree, and if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen - we're going through an ugly, but necessary, part of the vetting process. It's only going to get worse when we get down to the general election and Obama supporters are the instigators, so let's get it all out in the open now. That said, I like Newt's spunk in dealing with these idiotic questions.

  • If Newt wins the nomination, Obama will agree to 2 debates max. My guess is only one. And since Obama is the sitting President, he will also be able to dictate the format and rules. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose debating Newt.

    Since when did Slick Willie get only a couple of BJ's from only one young staffer? His trail of infidelities was legendary.
