So a 25 year old woman with no children goes into surgery to have a ovarian cyst removed and the surgeon does a complete hysterectomy, the now sterile woman should have no legal recourse? In Miami doctors amputated the wrong leg - if it had been you would you think you should have no legal recourse? This is what killls me with Libs . It's called responsibility. Get this TIM my wife had this done , but guess what she didn't have any insurance but we did what was right and paid the bill our self. See she made to much money to get help . And all she has is a part time job . If you make any attempt to work they won't help . But if you lay around like some lazy ass It's how much do you need . No wonder the system is Fucked up.

Nuttybar, first of all, you probably paid more than an insurance company would pay for an insured patient. Insurance companies pay negotiated, discounted rates, but if you are uninsured you are billed the full amount. For something as major as a hysterectomy you are talking thousands of dollars. If I was uninsured I'd offer to pay the same amount an insurance company would pay and I can't imagine any hospital would decline.
That said, I can tell you that your stepping up and paying the bill on your own is the exception and not the rule, and liberals are no less responsible when it comes to this than conservatives are.
If the entire system was up to liberals everyone would have coverage and you wouldn't have had to worry about it. I don't understand all the conservative rage around this. Yes, you can say that liberals want everyone to have health care, even though some people might not "deserve it", I guess. Conservatives have no problem with your guy Bush bombing and killing tens of thousands of civilians, but a liberal who wants to give health care to someone who isn't paying for it? Fucking socialists! Our priorities have become seriously twisted.
Every other civilized country in the world offers coverage for all their citizens. Oh, but we are so damn smart in this country we are the only ones who know that this is just wrong. These other countries' economies are based on capitalism, too, but have figured out that universal health coverage is not an evil. These systems are not all solely government-run, either. I'm sure in most of them those with means still get better care. I have no problem with that. I don't think we should provide everything to everyone- we can't. Health care is a finite resource. We are already contributing to bankrupting our country by paying for ridiculous levels of care for the elderly.

All of those countries spend FAR less per capita than we do on health care, so their economic problems are not rooted in health care. The global economy's downturn undoubtedly affects their ability to provide all social services, but it's not like universal health care caused their problems when they pay a lot less than we do.

Believing what? That we spend more on health care? I think that's a pretty well-established fact recognized by every health care expert. Do you know anyone who disputes this? I know facts are not that big in the Republican scheme of things, but at some point denying that the sky is blue or that water is wet just makes you look silly.

I have no idea what your point is. Are you saying your wife had a major medical malfeasance committed by her doctor?
My point was that if a doctor/hospital does something that due to their incompetence seriously damages a person then that person has to have the right to sue to for that incompetence.
So your wife was given a hysterectomy when she was suppose to have cyst removed? Or she had the wrong leg amputated? Which did you mean when you wrote: "Get this TIM my wife had this done?" If she really had one of these done to her - not only should you not have paid you should have sued them.
If you are independently wealthy and can pay your medical bills without insurance - good for you. What if her bills had been over $300,000, could you have paid that on your own? That was what my last hospital bill was, but luckily I had good insurance.
Personal responsibility is why I am in favor of the the individual mandate as part of our health care system. When someone cannot pay for their treatment the costs are passed along to the rest of us in higher medical costs.

Here's an interesting anecdote.
My wife and I were plying golf along the Robert Trent Jones Trail in Alabama (which, for all you hackers out there, is absolutely gorgeous, despite the fact of where it resides). We were paired up with a veterinarian and his his friend, both RABID Auburn fans (the vet had this giant magnetic Auburn sign on his van). Anyway, once they saw the OSU towels hanging off my bag he just went completely off about how much he hated Tressel, and how much he REALLY hated the sweater vest. I mean, this just got this guy completely pissed off! I don't think I helped matters when I suggested that perhaps the recruitment of Cam Newton was not quite all above board - he got beet red about how nothing was ever proven, etc. etc.
It made me realize two things - 1) collegiate football, no matter how much I enjoy it, should never be taken that seriously and 2) I think if this guy had to choose beteween shooting a puppy and watching Alabama beat Auburn then it's curtains for the puppy.

I cannot understand why conservatives do not understand the concept of everyone else having to pay when the uninsured get free healthcare.
Also, many people who have lost their jobs (and thus their healthcare), or couldn't get healthcare because of pre-existing conditions, have gone bankrupt and lost everything when a family member had a catastrophic illness. Because they were able to liquidate all their assets they had to pay. Universal healthcare would have allowed them to keep their home and assets. Anyone who does not get this does not want to get it for only one reason - Obama
Oh, I forgot - Sky color is whatever color Hannity says it is.

Ha Ha, funny stuff. probably at least 90% of all the Romney bashing i have seen and read has been by republicans and now they try to pretend he was their boy all along. As far as the election goes, the only people who seem to think that Romney has a realistic chance are the folks who only get their news from Fox Propaganda. Dude, get out and get some air, clear your head and accept reality.

soooo hardman, who do you get your political updates from? Rachel Madow, Big Ed? Now there's " truthful and unbiased" reporting. Stop fighting Democrats vs. Republicans. Let's get someone else in the office of The President while there's still time to save this country. Obama is putting his stamp on the future demise of the Democracy as we know it.

It is pigs like Romney who have created this economic meltdown. Tired of name calling? OK. If you need particulars try on the Gramm Briley act of 2001 - sponsored by uber conservative pig Phil Gramm which it made it legal to give variable loans to people making 20K a year to be resold and resold by wall street banking scum over and until all collapsed. Also moron conservatives try on the futures commodities act of 2000 sponsored by more wall street investment filth like yourselves. It is has provided the oil baron oinkers with all the incentive in the world to artifically raise gas prices which has been the other prime factor in destroying the american economy. I only hope Obama does what you dirtbag conservatives fear he is going to do in his second term. People like you Phil Gramm, John Boehner, GW, etc are the ones to blame for what has happened. Conservative democrats have gladly assisted.
