May Day / Occupy Violence

  • These people are nuts. Like my Swedish born wife said, "What the heck is going on? I've never of anything like this in America before this year." Most other places it's simply their Labor Day and people get the day off from work. But this year we have riot police needed in the U.S.A. Really?

And people here call the Tea Party movement radicals. fingergun

Updated at 10:20 P.M. ET: Protesters across the world marched through the streets Tuesday toting signs, playing instruments and wearing costumes to rally against austerity measures, call for more jobs and seek greater immigrants' rights on May Day.

Marches turned violent in Oakland, where protesters pounded on bank windows and went face-to-face with a police line, and in Seattle, where protesters dressed in black smashed windows and police pepper-sprayed some in the crowds.

In the United States, the protests are seen as the biggest test for the Occupy movement since many of its camps were shuttered late last year. Occupiers in more than 100 cities across the country were expected to protest on the day that traditionally celebrates workers’ rights.

  • Just wait I am sure some one on here will come on this topic and tell you that it is all Obama's fault!

For what it is worth, take a look at the Akron Beacon journal today and look at the front page article on the occupy group that wanted to blow up a bridge. this stuff has gotten completely out of hand.

The sad thing is that there will always be radicals in every movement that will get all the publicity and make the rest look bad. I agree, it was terrible and shouldn't happen.

  • I noticed how quickly the Occupy Cleveland group tried to distance themselves from the 5 guys who planned to blow up a bridge south of the city. Imagine if they had been supporters of the Tea Party. Anyway, overall the May Day demonstrations were not as bad as I might have expected though Seattle, Oakland and New York seem to bring out the worst in the Occupiers and I'm not convinced that a majority of citizens buy the whole 99% vs 1% argument.

The fact that this fraction of 1% believe and act like they represent 99% of the population, and liberal media goes along with it, is farcical.
