More interesting facts on our President.......

you're not exactly representing your country well right now eric. I was never in the military, but I bet they taught you to respect others.

I always enjoy when Republicans who never served tell me how I am suppose to think, act, or vote. In 2004 I was called a traitor by MANY Republicans and nearly got into several fist fight because I went to the John Kerry rally on campus. I wasn't particularly a John Kerry fan, but I was going to make a protest vote. My service only seems to matter on the right when I think and act like them.

Was John Kerry's service respected by the Republicans in 2004 RNC when they were wearing purple heart band-aids to mock his war wounds?

Here is a little insight into elite soldiers. We make fun of support soldiers all the time. We laugh at Air Force soldiers who were allowed 1 airman to a room and given a housing stipend because our barracks were sub-standard housing to the Air Force. We had 3 army infantry soldiers to a room. We got paid the same amount as a person who did accounting in an air-conditioned tent and who got a shower with hot water in the field.

We respect those who put up as opposed to running their mouths. We respect people who gave blood, sweat, and tears for their country for little in return. The most I made during my service was about 28,000 per year and still paid my taxes. We respect both Democrats and Republicans who served. THis guy said I had no integrity and didn't serve. Bad move, buddy.

Even soldiers who were fortunate enough to never have to fight in combat risk their lives everyday. My roommate was killed in training and we were like brothers. Other buddies of mine died during my enlistment and it was devastating. I was nearly killed on multiple occasions from M60 rounds on a live fire range and from a mortar shell dropped by our assistant gunner while my head was over the mortar tube.

I've earned my right to speak my opinion. But the beauty is my service and the service of others guarantees your right to speak your opinion, service or not. This is the nation I want to be a part of.

I'll bite. The only reason Obama is president is the color of his skin. Largest black voter turn out ever. That is why. And no, I am not racist. I am just stating my opinion which is also known to be fact.

Blacks make up about 20% of the United States. Wrong again. He was elected by the youth vote and latinos. Young people were disenfranchised and made a statement.

Wall street gives to who they think will win. They don't care about Ideology, they care about friendly legislation. And Wall street gave big to Obama in 2008 because they knew he was going to win.

White Black or Green, Obama was elected because George W. was a moron.

Republicans should be angry with him.

sorry, but you are wrong. I did a little research for you. There were just shy of 70 million votes for president in 2010. Obama had roughly 53% of the vote. There are just over 16 million registered black voters who gave over 90% of their votes to Obama. That is about 14 million votes for Obama and 2 million for Bush. A difference of 12 million votes. Obama only won by 4 million votes. That works out to about 38% of Obamas votes came from the black vote. And about 6% for Bush. Not to mention blacks going out and telling other blacks to vote, without knowing why they are voting for someone other than skin color. So don't tell me it was a youth movement. And as I stated before, I am not a racist. I'm just proving YOU wrong and getting my point across at the same time.

Obama won the youth vote by 34% making up 18% of the electorate. If you review the results you will see he won all non-white categories including Asian and Latino. Did they tell all their friends to vote for Obama without knowing what he stood for, too? All non-whites only make up 26% of the electorate and Obama dominated all non-white categories. He lost college educated whites by 4% and non-college whites by 18%.

    http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/polls/#val=USP00p1

Now here's an interpretation from WSJ that shows it was won by the youth vote.

The experts agree this election came down to the youth vote and whether or not Obama could carry the Latino vote. He won both big.

Okay, so he won the youth vote by 34%. He won the black vote by 80 something %. What else needs to be said. He received the majority of his votes from people who were voting for a cause and or people who voted just to vote(teenagers.) Hopefully this time around people will educate themselves before they go to the poles. I'm done going back and forth with you. Neither one of us thinks we are wrong. This would never end so I'll end it.

Edit: Let's just agree to disagree. One thing I think we can agree on is that the Bucks are going to kick some serious ass next season. Can't wait for it to get started.

First, thanks for your service... My dad was in the military but I never had the distinction of serving myself. I agree that everyone should respect your sacrifice and patriotism, and that you've earned the right to express your opinions more than most (including my own).

I also concur that the youth vote was critical to Obama's election and a demographic that he still must court heavily to win. However, therein is some pivotal insight into exactly who he is and how he tries to go about getting his real agenda implemented... There is no question Obama is an intelligent person. As a matter of fact, he is savvy enough to realize that his liberal ideology will not play with the broader electorate, http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0112/71385.html . Platitudes work well with either an uninformed or inexperienced base... I'm not trying to insult young people, but the truth of the matter is few have genuine experience in maintaining a household, raising a family, and/or being an integral member of the business community. There is a substantive difference between intelligence and wisdom which explains why many smart people skew left when then are younger but then migrate to the right as they get older and gain more life experience. Unfortunately, our educational system has also become a primary tool for the left to impose their views on impressionable minds... That statement is not an attack on the many educators who do not participate in this behavior, but let's be honest in recognizing that union influence in public education creates an unhealthy bias. Additionally, academia in general is a bastion for liberalism as it is an environment where theory and idealism often trump substance and reality.

Like most liberals, Obama paints idealistic pictures of how he thinks things should be as opposed to how they really are. Socialism fails every time that it is tried but yet arrogant liberals like Obama always feel they are the one smart enough to pull it off the next time. Of course, he wouldn't dare attach these labels to his stated policies and nor is he able to implement his ultimate goals in singular pieces of legislation. However, make no mistake about it that he is the most liberal president we've had in our history, and that is not what the majority of Americans support.

Actually I don't think my opinion counts more than yours. Nor should it. I simply feel that Republicans who attack me and my service simply because I do not agree with them 100% of the time are not honorable. And I get that all the time. Perfect example ScarletGrayskul down voted me for talking about my sacrifices. It's not worth more or less than any else's sacrifices, but these are mine and I am having to defend everything about myself and my service just to be considered equal on a Right dominated board.

As far as Obama being that liberal, i disagree. I think he's kept nearly all of Bush's policies in place. I am simply saying that while Obama has done lots of things that warrant criticism, some complaints especially the one that started this thread benefit no one, left or right. I also feel that no one is truly "left" or "right," but that we all are a mix of both. To say anyone is 100% conservative or 100% liberal is just marketing.

For example, I think a lot of my beliefs are being stated by Ron Paul on a regular basis, but I am attacked for stating them. I also think that, as i have said many times, neither party represents the majority of Americans. If someone spends all of his/her time railing on one party you are not holding the other accountable.

I mentioned the golf stuff on here a couple of days ago. Obama played a few more rounds of golf in his first nine months of his presidency than W played in his terms. How about all the sporting events we have to pay to provide security for him and his wife to attend. If he wanted to be a celebrity, you do that before you run for office.

That's because Bush was too busy clearing brush at his fake ranch and tumbling over bikes on trails. Do we have to get all of Bush's screw-ups out? I mean, he is legendary, and that doesn't even count his policy blunders.
