Sure you do. Either way, could you bust a move for eveyone to see? You were so giddy 5 month's ago. We Conservatives warned you about believing the Liberal blogs about what was going to happen in Wisconsin.

I would never put Seattle on ignore. She is fun to read. Guess she just can't take hearing the truth about what the Dems and Obama are doing to the country.

Or maybe she just gets tired of reading what assholes have to say. Don't remember we libs strutting like little Banty roosters when Ohio rescinded SB 5. Since I live here, that was much more important to me that who the governor of Wisc is.

I thought we were okay with each other even though we usually disagree, but you are just getting too obnoxious.

You acting like a little turd because you finally backed a winner shows the maturity of a ten year old.

Why don't you bust a move, film it, and put it on wherever so we all can see it - or that's right, like me you can't. So maybe you could try to grow-up a little since you can't dance.

Don't need to ask the people in Ohio - the results of Issue 2 (repeal of SB 5) makes clear their support of teacher unions!

These people are hilarious... They are already making excuses for the re-election of Walker due to $$$ spent but they turn around in the same breath and laud the repeal of SB5 in which opponents FAR outspent proponents.

"We Are Ohio, which is seeking to defeat Issue 2, spent $17.3 million, while Building A Better Ohio, which supports Senate Bill 5, spent $5.9 million to support Issue 2... 'Opponents of Issue 2 have spent an extraordinary, perhaps historic, amount of money to defend their grip on our tax dollars,' said Jason Mauk, spokesman for Better Ohio. 'While we will be dramatically outspent in this contest, we’re committed to waging an aggressive effort in the closing days of the election.'"

According to partisan spin doctors like TimMcM, "the results of Issue 2 (repeal of SB 5) makes clear their support of teacher unions!" However, in Wisconsin it is just a matter of "the people's voices" being suppressed by campaign contributions. Ignore it when it is in your favor but attack it when it isn't... Yep, another sterling example of the objectivity and independence of the left. Here's some hard figures on where the general public really stands, http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0211/Poll_Public_unions_a_hard_sell.html .

I wanted to add that I have both tremendous respect and admiration for teachers in particular (I have very close friends and family members in the profession in addition to kids who have benefitted from the tremendous work of these professionals). I think if anyone is anti-teacher there is something seriously wrong with that individual. It is the public sector unions which are the problem and there is a veritable cornucopia of information out there to support that statement. Contrary to what the liberals on here will tell you, you can be supportive of the people without capitulating to the union. The greatest beneficiaries of the dismantling of this archaic and politically self-serving entity would be our entire educational system, students, and the majority of who are very good teachers (I'm also anti-voucher and charter school BTW).

  • I literally laughed my ass off reading through this thread. It is hysterically funny what people will believe in for political reasons, like some made up "War On Women". I have about 6 guests at my house right now and I showed them this thread. Four of them are women and they think seattlebuck is pure comedy gold. Hell, I wonder what I am going to do simce I am the "ememy" in this "war on women"? I have a wife and 3 daughters. Maybe i am just some super secret double agent trying to infiltrate the conservative ranks to find out "intel" to report to my Commanders during this "war on women".

This is why and when you went on ignore....I'll be glad to pull up the posts where Syran said he just can't leave me alone and also similar posts by Paz... I don't have a problem with Walker losing the recall as I never projected him to win... not once... but am I glad the Dems gave it a shot... absolutely... am I surprised they lost... not a bit... so have you're happy parties and imagine me weeping and wailing... NOT....

Wow, as usual you really have no understanding of anything beyond the concrete level. You take a one line post that I wrote in direct response to another post and accuse me as spinning things and ignoring the money.

I have posted several times lately that who ever has the most money wins like 90% of the time and that the percent of winners go up as the disparity grows.

But I was not talking about the money in that one line post, I was talking about the actual results. Issue 2 was defeated by a whopping 62 to 38 percentage. That seems a clear message to me regardless of money spent.

No where have I found that a landslide like that has been attributed to the amount of money spent. In tonight's results, Walker outspent Barrett 7.5 to 1 and with 99% of the vote in he is up by 7 points (53% to 46%). The disparity for Issue 2, according to your figures is about 3 to 1. By the way, I think it was actually higher and I think your figures are low for both sides but it doesn't matter here.

The 24 point win seems to me to be much more than just superior financing, IMO a landslide of that proportion represents the will of the people regardless of any other factors. Obama only beat McCain by 7 points. Reagan "only" beat Mondale by 58.8% to 40,6% - 18.2 points while winning the electoral votes 525 to 13.

    24 points is a slaughter.

So if you think that Issue 2 was affected much by the money, we just disagree. But please do not put words in my mouth and claim I am spinning when you have no idea what I was thinking.

Citing a poll about unions from Clarus which is a division of the global corporate public relations giant Qorvis, a biggie with the US Chamber of Commerce, means you never again get to question or ridicule anyone else's links - ever.

However, my guess is the figures are probably close to what anyone else would find. The press given unions of late would certainly make most people hate them - though it is stupid to be anti-union if you are for the recovery of the American economy. Unions, whether private or public, are the only chance for workers to have some influence on their own wages and benefits. It is not a coincident that the stagnation of middle class wages corresponds directly to the falling numbers of union members in this country over the last 30 years. It is one clear on this chart - yes it is a progressive site but the data on the graph is correct. It shows the relationship between union membership and share of total wages.
    http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/03/03/147994/unions-income-inequality/

Lastly, your last paragraph is BS, at least for the districts I have worked in or are familiar with. All of the officers and committee members of the union ARE those exact teachers you claim to respect. "The public sector unions" are not a bunch of outsiders, they are teachers elected by their peers to lead the union. You cannot separate the teacher in the classroom from the president of the union because he/she is the exact same person. So you cannot hate on the union without hating on the teachers who are the leadership and the members who elected them. In negotiations there are usually two OEA reps present but they just assist and help clarify the laws, etc., much like the BOE lawyer does for the administrative team. The ones who make proposals and actually engage in the process are, again, the teachers from the classroom.

There is no way you can make the distinction between the teachers and the public union that you claim.

There's one indusputable and incontrovertible message in all of this emanating from Wisconsin - the people have spoken, with a voice that resonates all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

There's a reason why utopian societies don't exist - it's nothing but pure fantasy and delusion when an entire political class tries to convince itself that redistributive policies are what people want, when, in fact, personal accountability and personal responsibility are the foundation upon which our great nation was built.

If believing that makes me a bad winner, then I guess I'm a bad winner.

To be fair, Seattle did post quite a while ago that she was deeply disappointed in Obama and did not support some of his legislation/actions. We all know she is a true liberal and though I may disagree with much of what she says, I also know that the well being of this country necessitates people like she and I agreeing that we must at times put aside our partisanship for the sake of freedom and justice for all citizens, liberal and conservatives alike. We can get there together...or not. Just my two cents today.
