I wasn't going to post on this thread until dave posted this snide remark; Have you noticed who hasn't answered the post? Kind of enlightening?

    Just what was dave implying?

I'm not Dave so I don't know. But, if the shoe fits...

    Thanks for the DV, though!

    Yeah, I said it.

I hope your post was a rhetorical comment.

    My comment was certainly sarcastic.

I volunteer my time (non-tangible pay as I do get the satisfaction of seeing the kids learn) to coach the soccer team (son & daughter are on one team this year, two last year). Next year I will have the youngest daughter playing too (so it might end up being three teams).

I meant no harm. I've actually coached for 42 years, only about 12 with my sons. I've never got paid, obviously it doesn't bother me.

I was implying that Cons on this Board are usually slapping each other on the back or trying to slap the poster he disagrees with. It was a little surprising to not see so many posters not giving up their info.

I've started to dabble in wood working. I've made a few Frames for paintings my wife makes (she's an art teacher) and currently trying to make a box for a whine bottle as a wedding gift. It's kinda tough to do but a fun hobby. More trial and error than finished products for me. hah

I might try to make a chest of drawers as a summer project, i dont know though yet, ha.

I'm a High school history teacher, volleyball coach, and part time caterer during the warmer months of the year.

I admire your work ethic. You should make that chest of drawers. Don't stop challenging yourself. One more thing. I have a question about history class. Whose account of history are you teaching?

Was in sales for food packaging business and lost my job 17 years ago. Started a small business that currently employs 15 people. I sell, buy, sweep the floor, package, load trucks, HR, Acct, IT .....whatever is needed.

My real job is parenting 3 kids and getting them to a ridiculous number of athletic games/practices.

It's folks like you that make America great! Keep up the good work! Thank you.

Men with high moral character like you are hard to find.

Will you still be collecting government assistance during your hiatus?

This is a tricky board to comment on. I would define myself as a consevative libritarian. I don't identify with a political party. If I offend anyone, so what!

Work ethic? Actually it's an indirect correlation between the more I do and the less my wife get's mad at me biggrin

Glenn Beck's account of history! hha

No, in all seriousness, the curriculum is fairly specific on what you have to cover. I keep the political sides out of everything because quite frankly, most kids don't give a hoot.

  • Retired teacher of 36 years. Coached basketball, football, track and cross country at all levels for most of those years. Retired in 04, but continued to coach until 2010. Own an apartment building with 5 apartments which I rent to college students. The building was built in 1830. I removed all the plaster down to the brick and built bead board wainscoting throughout. My original intent was to open a bar - McCague's Tavern. I'm still working on it
Am writing 5 screenplays. Almost finished with one that follows the life of Simon Kenton as one of the main frontiersmen who helped open up the Ohio Valley in the late 1700s. It is a cross between 'The Last of the Mohicans' and 'Dances With Wolves,' but much bloodier than either. It is titled 'Fields of Fortune.'
I am also writing a book on longevity (slowly), since I am 70 and am always being told I could pass for 50 (or less). I win my age group in 5Ks and plan to run my first marathon this fall in Columbus (I hope). Someone should have told me how much more everything hurts the farther you run. Who would have thought?

Progressive - who plans to live to 120, 130, or more. The 22nd century would be a nice goal.

There are dozens of regular posters on Hot Spot who have not posted here. Why did you take his post personally? How was his remark snlde?

What do you think he was implying and why do you think it bothered you?

Answer, don't answer. Whatever you do it may be enlightening or maybe it won't.

Though often asked, God does not take sides in politics or college football.

Outstanding, although I may disagree with you politically on some things I must admit you are living a very charmed life. Good luck to you and your endeavors and keep us posted on your work, it sounds amazingly interesting.
