In late October featured Christopher Worley and said he could be the next Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville star headed to Columbus. Two months later Worley has announced he indeed is a Buckeye.

Worley has committed to Ohio State over scholarship offers from Illinois, West Virginia, Georgia Tech and others. Worley took the ACT in early December and has received a score that should qualify him academically paving the way for his commitment to the Buckeyes. contributor Gary Housteau confirmed the commitment via text. He becomes OSU's 22nd verbal for 2013.

The 6-foot-3 and 190-pound Worley played outside linebacker during his junior season. He played linebacker and safety during his senior season as well as some tight end and wide receiver.

“We moved him around more this year,” Glenville assistant Tony Overton said. “He’s had an awesome season.”

Worley is an outstanding athlete that should give the Buckeyes’ flexibility with the ability to play strong safety, outside linebacker and on special teams.

“I think Ohio State likes him at strong safety,” Overton said.

During the Buckeyes’ bye week Meyer and Ohio State assistant Stan Drayton stopped at Glenville to check on Worley and several top Tarblooder juniors including offensive lineman Marcelys Jones who on Christmas day became Meyer’s first 2014 commitment.

Worley and Jones are the 19th and 20th Glenville players over a 13-year period to pick Ohio State.

Worley: OSU's 22nd verbal

Worley is commitment No. 22 for a Meyer 2013 recruiting class that is expected to number at least 23 come National Signing Day.

Worley is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings. He is the country’s No. 28 athlete and the No. 21 prospect in Ohio.
