Klein Has Domestic Charges Dropped

Storm Klein had his domestic violence and assault charges dropped on Wednesday, and instead pled guilty to the charge of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

Klein was dismissed from Ohio State’s football team on July 7 – the day following an altercation with the mother of his child – by head coach Urban Meyer.

Now Meyer finds himself in a very-interesting predicament. Did the woman change her story to protect Klein? Or was she lying all along and the linebacker from Licking Valley High School near Newark, Ohio, received a raw deal? It will be intriguing to monitor this situation to say the least.

If Klein is reinstated to the team, he will have one season of eligibility remaining. Ohio State is under its limit of 82 scholarships, so there is room to add Klein. Also, if Klein is reinstated, it will have no effect on scholarships available for the 2013 recruiting class since he’s a senior.

Ohio State sports information director Jerry Emig released the following statement Wednesday:

“If indeed the reports that are surfacing are true regarding charges being dismissed, there will be a re-assessment of Storm Klein’s status with the football team, as Coach Meyer had indicated back in July. I don’t have a timetable on when anything will be determined, but I’ll forward any response once available.”
