Ohio State Lands Marshall

Ohio State is owning the Detroit area early in the 2014 recruiting cycle.

Marshall wasn't planning on committing to Ohio State during Sunday's visit but pulled the trigger while on campus.

After landing touted Cass Tech cornerback Damon Webb in January, the Buckeyes scored a pledge from Top247 defensive end Lawrence Marshall during his visit to Columbus on Sunday.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Marshall chose Ohio State over offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Tennessee.

"So happy," Marshall said.

Marshall is the second commit for Ohio State on the day as he joins fellow Top247 prospect in offensive tackle Kyle Trout. The Buckeyes are up to four verbals in the class-of-2014, with Top100 offensive guard Marcelys Jones also in the fold.

Marshall said he was not planning to commit on his visit to Columbus.

"Just seeing the players and talking to the players and the coaches, and talking to the fans and Ohio State students, everything came together."

So what is the impact of Marshall's decision on the Buckeyes' team next year and after that. Click below for Bill Kurelic's story:
